HSI2023 – the 9th Hitotsubashi Summer Institute: Macroeconomic Policies was held
On March 11, 2024, a research international conference, HSI2023 –9th Hitotsubashi Summer Institute: Macroeconomic Policies, was held via online. It was organized by Prof. Shioji Etsuro (Graduate School of Economics, Hitotsubashi University) as a part of the research project “Macroeconomic Policies at the Time of Heightened Uncertainty under Globalization” in which Prof. Shioji takes a lead.
The conference was held via Zoom under the theme of “Macroeconomic Policies”. A total of 7 researchers presented their research and 48 participants engaged in discussions in research presentation sessions. Topics ranged from new estimation methods for trend inflation, natural rate of interest and output gap, a hidden factor that has suppressed the Japanese Government Bond Yields, worldwide slowdown in investment specific technological progress, resource reallocation within and across firms, and if Japanese workers work too much.
The conference started with an opening remark by Prof. Toshiaki Watanabe, Dean and Professor at Graduate School of Social Data Science, followed by presentations by Prof. Jouchi Nakajima at the Institute of Economic Research, Prof. Toshitaka Sekine at the Graduate School of Economics, Assistant Prof. Yuta Takahashi at the Institute of Economic Research, University Prof. Kyoji Fukao at the Institute of Economic Research and Assistant Prof. Shunsuke Hori at the Graduate School of Economics representing Hitotsubashi University.
Prof. Kyu Ho Kang from the Department of Economics and Prof. Yunjong Eo from the Department of Economics of Korea University also presented their papers.
