【Event Report】HSI2025: Economic Development / HSI-Young JADE Joint Conference Held
On December 12 (Fri) and 13 (Sat), 2025, the Hitotsubashi Summer Institute 2025 “Economic Development” (HSI2025) / HSI-Young JADE Joint Conference was successfully held.
This conference was organized as part of the winter session of the Hitotsubashi Summer Institute (HSI), co-hosted by the Japan Association for Development Economics (JADE) Conference Committee and the Hitotsubashi Institute for Advanced Study (HIAS) Global Economic Policy Research Center (GLECS) under the research project “Institutions and Policies for Sustainable Poverty Reduction in Developing Countries.”
Held at Hitotsubashi University’s East Campus, the conference focused on the common theme of “Economic Development.” Presentations covered a wide range of topics, including health, environment, trade, and gender, and lively discussions were conducted among young researchers and a total of 122 participants.
This Joint Conference provided a valuable opportunity for young scholars in development economics to interact with international researchers and share the latest research findings. In particular, discussions on policy implications derived from field and laboratory experiments were highly meaningful for future research and policy-making.
GLECS will continue to promote international academic networking and deepen research through such conferences.
