Hitotsubashi Institute for Advanced Study Discussion Paper Series Guidelines for Authors

  1. Purpose of the Series
    The Hitotsubashi Institute for Advanced Study (HIAS) Discussion Paper Series aims to provide authors with a wide audience and the opportunity to receive comments on their papers.
  2. Copyright and Reserved Right
    1. Copyright remains with the authors of individual papers. Any opinions expressed in the paper are those of the authors and do not necessarily represent those of HIAS.
    2. Authors accept that HIAS reserves the right to submit the paper to the Hitotsubashi University repository service (HERMES-IR) and in the database of Research Papers Economics (RePEc).
  3. Eligibility
    1. Any person who has worked as a faculty of HIAS may submit a paper for publication in the series. This would include those who are HIAS Fellow and HIAS Postdoctoral Fellow.
    2. Any person who has worked on Research Projects on Priority Area at HIAS as a project member or as a research collaborator or any person who has worked as a HIAS Visiting Scholar may submit a paper for publication in the series. The research collaborator should attach a letter of recommendation from a project member for the submission.
    3. Any paper presented at an event organized by HIAS is eligible to be submitted with approval from the event organizer.
    4. Papers already appearing as journal articles are not eligible.
  4. Style
    1. Papers should be written in English.
    2. All papers should include an abstract as well as keywords.
    3. Any author mentioned in 3-1 shall include “Hitotsubashi Institute for Advanced Study, Hitotsubashi University” as the affiliation. Authors mentioned in 3-2 and 3 should create an Acknowledgements section and describe the contribution of “Hitotsubashi Institute for Advanced Study, Hitotsubashi University”.
    4. The author shall submit an electronic copy of the paper in PDF to a Research Administrator. If any correction is required for conformity to the style mentioned in 4-1, 2 and 3, the author shall resubmit the revised version in PDF or editable manuscript quickly.
    5. The series will be numbered consecutively. A cover page with the consecutive number will be attached to the paper.
    6. The series will only be published electronically.
    7. On principle, publication date shall correspond to the submission date.
  5. Replacement and Withdrawal
    The HIAS will respond to the author’s request for replacement or withdrawal of a paper appropriately.
